📋 Description

• Independently investigate, evaluate, negotiate, settle, and resolve large and moderately complex to complex commercial property claims, including claims in litigation • Review claim notices, lawsuits, contracts, and policies to verify coverage, deductibles, claim payees, mortgagees, and compensability • Perform field inspections and re-inspections of commercial properties • Contact insureds and claimants to explain the claims process and provide claim status updates • Coordinate experts, remediation, temporary restoration, business continuation, evidence preservation, engineers, contractors, and reinspections • Obtain statements and official reports; document claim activities, reserve analyses, and reports in the claim system • Set timely and adequate reserves and analyze business records to estimate business-income losses • Review bills, invoices, receipts, legal expenses, estimates, and repair methods for accuracy and appropriateness • Resolve coverage questions and disputes, evaluate causes of loss, write repair estimates, and negotiate settlements • Draft reservation-of-rights, denial, settlement, statement-of-loss, and proof-of-loss documents upon required approval • Pursue recovery and subrogation opportunities, identify potential fraud, and refer cases to SIU • Recommend defense counsel and collaborate with attorneys on litigation • Coordinate and prepare cases for mediations, appraisals, arbitrations, and lawsuits • Submit referrals to internal specialty units and prepare risk reports for Underwriting and Risk Improvement • Review coverage intent, policy activity, account inspections, and property estimates • Participate in claims roundtables, catastrophic claims operations, large projects, and provide technical guidance to less experienced adjusters

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience • Five years of property claims adjusting experience or related experience • Relevant insurance designations preferred • Strong knowledge of claims theory and practice • Strong knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology, and substantive and procedural laws • Strong computer and claims-system knowledge • Ability to obtain all applicable state licenses • Excellent organizational and empathetic interpersonal skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Excellent customer service skills • Excellent investigative and problem-solving abilities • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Occasional travel required • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving
