📋 Description

• Perform both in-shop and field service work • Travel to customer sites to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on flooded and sealed batteries, chargers, and DC power distribution equipment • Interact with people at all levels inside and outside the company • Develop and conduct safe equipment-operation training for team members and customers • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and record data • Replace defective parts, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts with a gas torch • Determine specific gravity of solution • Water, wash, clean, and neutralize customers’ batteries at customer locations • Install equipment at customer facilities according to specifications • Provide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment • Maintain performance reports • Provide a communication link between customers and the company • Download battery and charger data via a monitoring device and use it to correct problems • Report occasionally to the local EnerSys Service Center for mandatory training, inventory, and parts pickup/drop-off • Perform other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent; or industry-related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet • Basic mechanical aptitude • Previous customer service experience in-field support • Able to read with comprehension and write documents in English • Able to perform basic math and solve simple equations • Must be able to work flexible hours and respond to after-hour service calls when required • Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical or related field (preferred) • Basic electrical understanding (preferred) • Use of test equipment and reading schematics (preferred) • Hands-on job experience (preferred) • Experience should be substantively in the Electrical related field where applicable (preferred) • Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record with minimal traffic violations • Able and willing to travel to customer sites • Able and willing to do overnight travel; maximum of 5 days per month of overnight travel • Must be at least 18 years of age to drive a company vehicle; nonregulated/CDL vehicles require 21 years of age • Able and willing to operate a forklift • Must be able to pass the company’s driving requirements • Must be able to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel or crouch • Must be able to differentiate colors • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis • Must be able to stand for long periods of time • Employees are responsible for wearing required Personal Protective Equipment • Must be able and willing to be on-call • Must be able and willing to wear a respirator • Must be able and willing to work overtime • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and public holidays • Must be able and willing to work in plant/warehouse environments • Risk of electrical shock and exposure to lead/fiberglass products; periodic blood tests are required
