📋 Description

• Lead complex substation engineering projects from estimating and proposals through detailed design, equipment procurement, construction bidding, commissioning, and energization support • Review and produce physical substation design drawings, including general arrangements, elevations, equipment connection details, grounding plans, conduit plans, control building layouts, foundation plans, and material lists • Perform grounding, lightning protection, battery bank sizing, conduit fill, substation sizing, and AC/DC substation studies and calculations • Review and produce one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel elevations • Collaborate with civil/structural, protection and controls, automation, project management, and other multidisciplinary teams • Conduct site visits, walkthroughs, estimating, and scoping meetings • Ensure engineering practices comply with standards, regulatory requirements, and technological developments • Support process and design improvements and business development activities • Monitor project quality, measurements, revenue forecasts, budgets, and schedules • Mentor, train, and supervise less-experienced EITs and designers

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering • Registration as a professional engineer by examination is required • Professional Engineer licensure • 6–10 years of substation engineering experience, preferably at an engineering consulting firm • Experience producing and reviewing civil/structural, physical, or protection and control design drawings for substation projects • Proficiency with substation protection and control design and industry standards • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% within the continental U.S. • Valid driver’s license without restrictions • Ability to work independently and direct or supervise less-experienced EITs and/or designers • Knowledge of grounding, lightning protection, battery bank sizing, conduit fill, AC/DC substation studies, and substation sizing calculations
