📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling property claims within designated authority • Service the assigned territory and handle litigated claims when needed • Travel daily from a home office to conduct property inspections within the assigned territory • Contact policyholders regarding property claims • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate claims information, determine coverage and total claim value, and recommend coverage decisions • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records and related materials • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle property claims involving damage or coverage, including negotiating with plaintiff attorneys or coordinating litigation with defense counsel • Develop and apply working knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions regarding policy changes, interpretation and legislation • Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Maintain regular and predictable attendance

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education • Bachelor’s Degree required • Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Regular driving, lifting/moving, manual keying/data entry/computer use, and pushing/pulling/moving objects or wheeled equipment • Position requires catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Good time management and organization skills strongly preferred
