• Directly own and manage a dedicated geographic portfolio of collections and landlord/tenant litigation matters. • Monitor all landlord/tenant litigation within the assigned geography from initiation through resolution. • Arrange and lead monthly update meetings with local landlord/tenant counsel to review case status and next steps across the portfolio. • Enter and maintain landlord/tenant case updates in the property management system on a timely and accurate basis. • Work with community managers, regional staff, and outside local landlord/tenant counsel to initiate non-payment legal proceedings against current tenants on a regular, consistent cadence, as well as holdover and other proceedings on an as-needed basis. • Serve as a first point of contact, together with the community manager, for outside landlord/tenant counsel on information requests and settlement negotiations. • Ensure consistency, timeliness, and compliance with company standards in the initiation, management and tracking of collections and landlord/tenant legal matters. • Identify trends or issues across the assigned geography and escalate to the regional operations staff and the Collections and Landlord/Tenant Administration Manager, as appropriate. • Monitor and report on portfolio KPIs (e.g., case aging, cycle time, and recovery rate) within the assigned geography. • Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree required. • Minimum of two (2) years of prior paralegal or legal case management experience required; experience with landlord/tenant, eviction, or collections matters strongly preferred. • Experience with property management systems (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, or similar) preferred. • Strong organizational and case-management skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of active matters across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with outside counsel, community managers, and regional staff. • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive tenant, legal, and settlement information. • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage competing deadlines across an assigned geography.
