📋 Description

• Administer, configure, monitor, patch, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database environments across development, test, and production systems • Install and configure SQL Server instances, databases, SQL Server Agent jobs, linked servers, maintenance plans, and related database services • Monitor availability, capacity, performance, blocking, deadlocks, waits, storage utilization, and overall system health • Perform SQL performance tuning, including query analysis, execution-plan review, indexing strategy, statistics maintenance, and stored-procedure optimization • Design, implement, test, and maintain backup and recovery strategies • Support high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies, including Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, log shipping, and replication • Manage database security, roles, permissions, service accounts, encryption, auditing, and access controls • Apply SQL Server security updates, cumulative updates, and version upgrades through approved change-management processes • Create, review, and maintain T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, SQL Agent jobs, and maintenance routines • Partner with application developers on database designs, data models, queries, stored procedures, and deployment scripts • Support database deployments through CI/CD and DevOps processes • Automate routine administration using PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL Server Agent, and approved scripting tools • Maintain database documentation, configuration standards, data dictionaries, runbooks, recovery procedures, and operational documentation • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, problem management, and production support • Monitor capacity, storage growth, retention, archiving, and data lifecycle needs • Support integrations and data movement using SSIS, APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and secure file/data transfer mechanisms • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, development, QA, and DevOps teams • Evaluate and support SQL Server workloads hosted on-premises and in cloud environments, including AWS • Ensure systems and changes comply with security, audit, business-continuity, change-management, and production standards

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Administration, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered • 2–4 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments preferred • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) strongly preferred, or an equivalent current Microsoft data-platform/database administration certification • Additional current Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, security, or data-platform certifications preferred • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, architecture, configuration, security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning • Proficiency with T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Agent, execution plans, indexing, stored procedures, and database troubleshooting • Working knowledge of SQL Server high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies, including Always On Availability Groups and failover concepts • Experience with database backup, restore, recovery testing, integrity checks, and disaster-recovery procedures • Understanding of database security concepts including least privilege, role-based access, encryption, auditing, authentication, and secure configuration • Experience using PowerShell and/or T-SQL to automate database administration and operational tasks • Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, storage, virtualization, and infrastructure concepts affecting SQL Server • Familiarity with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure/AWS, or other cloud-hosted SQL Server environments • Familiarity with DevOps practices, Git, CI/CD pipelines, database deployment tooling, monitoring, and observability • Ability to participate in scheduled maintenance and production support activities as business needs require
