📋 Description

• Set the technical direction for Future’s Android products • Lead Android work across phone and Wear OS apps • Build onboarding, coach messaging, scheduling, guided workouts, progress tracking, health-data integration, and video-call experiences • Build accessible interfaces with Jetpack Compose and Future’s design system • Improve architecture, module boundaries, data ownership, navigation, and offline behavior in a modular Kotlin codebase • Guide integrations with Wear OS, Health Connect, heart-rate data, sensors, and the Android device lifecycle • Own app startup, responsiveness, media playback, foreground services, background work, real-time calls, and data synchronization • Use crash, performance, release, and telemetry data to identify problems • Set expectations for code quality, testing, observability, and maintainability • Improve Gradle builds, GitHub Actions, Fastlane automation, and Google Play delivery • Lead technical planning, project execution, design discussions, pairing, and code reviews • Use AI coding tools to support exploration, implementation, testing, and review • Partner with product, design, backend, and iOS engineers on a small senior team • Guide and support other engineers

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional Android engineering experience, including ownership of complex consumer applications • Deep Kotlin knowledge • Strong command of Jetpack Compose, coroutines, Flows, dependency injection, and Android lifecycle behavior • Experience leading architecture work in a large or modular Android codebase • Experience shipping and supporting applications through Google Play • Understanding of performance, offline state, background execution, media playback, permissions, and device fragmentation • Strong testing across unit, integration, UI, and end-to-end layers • Ability to debug across UI, networking, persistence, services, devices, and CI • Experience leading complex projects from planning through launch while managing scope, dependencies, risks, and delivery • Experience operating at lead scope • Experience using AI coding tools and verifying their output • Passion for health, fitness, and thoughtful coaching • Care for interaction quality, accessibility, performance, and product details • Ability to make architectural decisions based on product needs and operating constraints • Ability to raise concerns early and propose solutions • Ability to share context, invite feedback, and help engineers grow • Ownership from product discovery through production support • Nice to have: Wear OS or Wearable Data Layer experience • Nice to have: Health Connect, health sensors, or Bluetooth experience • Nice to have: HIPAA and health-product regulatory familiarity • Nice to have: Media3, CameraX, foreground services, or real-time audio/video experience • Nice to have: Offline-capable applications with Room, WorkManager, and background synchronization • Nice to have: Fitness, health, coaching, or personalized consumer product experience • Nice to have: Experience evolving a design system across a large Compose application
