• Lead field teams of 4–8 staff deploying to communities across the U.S. under an EPA technical assistance program • Provide daily direction, coordination, and motivation for safe, efficient, high-quality data collection • Liaise between the project manager and field team • Communicate field progress, challenges, and updates to the project manager and escalate issues • Problem-solve onsite regarding route changes, weather, equipment, and utility coordination • Maintain professional interactions with water utility personnel and adapt to local conditions • Walk long distances for multiple consecutive days while collecting water utility data • Work outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, and light rain • Perform occasional light digging to access utility infrastructure • Track, manage, and safeguard equipment and supplies • Ensure accurate, reliable, and complete field documentation • Translate project objectives and logistics into actionable daily plans • Oversee equipment and supply distribution, tracking, and reconciliation • Adjust field strategies and travel plans as conditions change • Maintain timely communication to document, share, and resolve issues
• Minimum 15 years of experience leading teams • Prior experience leading teams in outdoor or technical environments strongly preferred • Experience with water utility personnel, public works staff, or other field stakeholders beneficial • Active driver’s license required • Ability and willingness to engage in recurring long-distance travel • US citizenship required • No security clearance required • Strong leadership and team-management skills • High physical endurance and comfort with extended outdoor activity • Excellent communication with field teams and water utility staff • Organized, detail-oriented approach to planning, coordination, and documentation • Flexibility and strong problem-solving skills • Professional demeanor with local utility partners • Reliability, accountability, and sound judgment under changing conditions • Ability to walk long distances for multiple consecutive days • Ability to work in heat, cold, humidity, and light rain • Ability to perform occasional light digging with a shovel
