📋 Description

• Support GE business initiatives related to power systems and controls • Work with controls teams to review product control algorithms • Develop high-level block diagrams of control systems • Develop simplified control-system models and test them in MATLAB, PSCAD, and other platforms • Develop technical understanding of electrical characteristics of GE Vernova Solar, Storage, Synchronous Condensers, and STATCOM Solutions power-electronics products and their integration to electrical grids • Work on automation architecture • Prepare detailed written reports and/or presentations describing analyses, solutions, and customer value propositions • Participate in a teamwork-focused environment emphasizing quality, customer service, and innovation • Perform Python coding and agentic coding using AI

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in electrical or electric power engineering, controls engineering or related field of study • General understanding/awareness of power system and control system concepts • Understanding of inverter-based electrical equipment • Demonstrated experience in developing control system or control algorithms • Demonstrated modeling and technical experience in technical performance analysis of electric power systems with power electronic sources or loads • Experience in planning and execution of technical projects relevant to electric power systems and equipment design • Expertise in tuning controller to achieve desired performance requirement established in grid codes • Experience with developing model in electromechanical domain like PSS/E, PSLF, PowerFactory etc • Excellent interpersonal communication skills • Understanding of grid systems interactions with power plant equipment and controls • Experience with time-domain simulation tools, including ATP/EMTP, PSCAD/EMTDC and MATLAB • Experience with programming environments, including Python or Fortran • Experience programming, tuning, and using user-written “black box” models in PSCAD and MATLAB • Experience modeling and simulating inverter-based technologies including controls in MATLAB, PSSE and PSLF • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related science is desired • Industry reputation, prior IEEE/CIGRE published articles, or participation in industry standards working groups • Awarded patents on HV power equipment applications are a plus • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable)
