📋 Description

• Build and run Augment's accounting function • Own the month-end close, including calendars, checklists, reconciliations, and review controls • Manage the third-party accounting firm during transition and lead the move to an in-house close • Prepare financial statements and management reporting for leadership and the board • Own revenue recognition for subscription, usage-based, and professional services contracts • Prepare and lead the company's first annual audit • Run accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections, billing reconciliation, expense management, payroll accounting, and cash management • Manage accruals, prepaid expenses, vendor commitments, minimum-spend contracts, and true-up exposure • Own multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidation as legal entities are added • Coordinate with tax advisors on sales tax, income tax, and transfer pricing • Maintain fixed asset, equity, and stock-based compensation records, including the cap table • Build and document internal controls, policies, and approval workflows • Select, implement, and improve finance systems and automate repetitive work with AI tools and scripting • Support budgeting, forecasting, and investor, lender, and acquirer diligence requests • Hire and manage future accounting team members

🎯 Requirements

• CPA (or CPA-eligible) with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance • Big 4 audit experience, followed by experience in a high-growth startup or technology company, ideally a SaaS or usage-based business • 7+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of a close at a venture-backed company • Strong command of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and stock-based compensation • Experience preparing for or supporting an audit, ideally a first audit • Comfortable operating with speed and incomplete information • Daily use of AI tools and ability to automate reconciliations, reporting, and review • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to explain accounting decisions to non-finance audiences • Clear communication and ability to work across teams and with outside firms • Self-directed and able to act as both strategist and doer in a team of one • Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Ramp, Stripe, or similar tools is a bonus • Experience moving accounting from an outsourced firm to an in-house team is a bonus • Experience with multi-entity or international accounting, including Canada, is a bonus • Experience with usage-based or consumption pricing and variable cloud and infrastructure costs is a bonus • Familiarity with B2B distribution, supply chain, or logistics software is a bonus • Prior experience at a Series B or later company is a bonus
