• Build and lead field-based medical engagement for the Portal program in EPP and XLP • Report to the CMO and manage direct reports • Lead and conduct field-based medical and scientific engagements with identified HCPs • Deliver accurate, balanced, and compliant scientific exchange on EPP/XLP disease state and program data • Set priorities, coach, and oversee day-to-day field execution • Align with leadership on Medical Affairs field activities and priorities • Execute the agreed Medical Affairs field strategy and provide field input to refine it • Support cross-functional development of field/MSL decks, SOPs, and congress presentations • Support field engagement and logistics at medical congresses • Engage identified HCPs on-site and coordinate field-team presence • Track and report field metrics and activity • Develop and maintain scientific and clinical expertise in EPP/XLP, porphyrias, heme biosynthesis, and rare disease
• Advanced clinical or scientific degree required: PharmD, PhD, or MD • Established Medical Science Liaison / field medical experience required • Demonstrated track record of field-based healthcare professional engagement • Rare disease and/or EPP/XLP/porphyria experience strongly preferred • People-management or team-lead experience • Ability to manage and develop direct reports • Ability to translate strategy into field execution • Ability to align cross-functionally with business stakeholders • Strong knowledge of clinical trial design and interpretation of scientific data • Excellent scientific communication skills • Understanding of Medical Affairs compliance boundaries, including field vs. KOL/site engagement and non-promotional standards • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and organized • Ability to work independently in the field with significant travel • Significant field travel of approximately 60–70%
