• Support the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum • Function as a second teacher in the classroom without responsibility for all planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications • Work with classroom and lead teachers across assigned classrooms • Provide individual assistance to students and help students make up work after approved absences • Support students who find content and lessons challenging • Share ideas and insights with classroom teachers and grade-level staff to improve learning • Support and enforce school dress and behavior codes • Promote orderly behavior in the school, on school grounds, and at off-campus activities • Keep accurate records and prepare reports as required by the classroom teacher and Headmaster • Attend Open Houses, special school events, and designated All Faculty Meetings as needed • Substitute for absent teachers when necessary • Perform monitoring and duty assignments • Participate in faculty development on half-days • Assist with upkeep of buildings and grounds as requested • Keep workplaces and classrooms neat and orderly and care for school equipment • Follow safety and security policies for students on campus • Participate in annual performance evaluations when required and accept recommendations for instructional improvement • Promote the mission and goals of Archway Classical Academy to the greater community • Attend Great Hearts professional development opportunities, including New Faculty Orientation and The Summit, when required
• Some college coursework and/or Associate's degree required • Bachelor's degree preferred • Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements • Ability to maintain a stationary (standing or sitting) position for 25% of the time • May occasionally move around the classroom and position self to be level with student desks • May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities • Willingness to follow school policies and procedures, including the Academy Crisis Plan • Ability to support the school's philosophy, policies, procedures, dress and behavior codes, and mission • Ability to continue professional growth through graduate courses, seminars, and workshops
