• Oversee daily accounting operations and deliverables for a portfolio of nonprofit and/or government contractor clients • Ensure timely and accurate monthly close processes, financial reporting, and compliance requirements • Serve as primary point of contact for ongoing client communications • Support client onboarding by establishing workflows, timelines, and expectations • Present financial results and key insights to client management and leadership teams • Plan, schedule, and staff engagements; delegate effectively to promote staff development • Monitor engagement budgets, time budgets, and resource utilization; assist with billing • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and advisory insights • Review internal controls and staff work programs; provide coaching, training, and feedback • Supervise and review Staff and Senior Accountants and mentor Supervisors • Prepare client financial statements and supporting schedules according to GAAP, regulations, and firm standards • Identify GAAP implications in client transactions • Anticipate problem areas, inform leadership of significant developments, analyze issues, and recommend solutions • Promote an inclusive, accountable, and collaborative team culture • Stay current on relevant standards, regulations, industry trends, and cloud-based accounting tools • Instruct professional development programs • Prepare reports and projects requested by partners • Participate in practice and proposal development efforts
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting • Typically 5-10 years’ experience in public accounting/outsourced accounting, demonstrating progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed • CPA preferred but not required • Effective written and oral communications with employees, partners, clients, and vendors • Ability to organize projects, set priorities, and delegate tasks under changing circumstances • Ability to assume a lead role in planning and implementing assigned projects • Ability to keep long-term objectives in mind while focusing on daily activities • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive firm and client information • Demonstrated ability to bring in new business • Minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education required each year • Participation in career development program • Ability to mentor less experienced staff • Proficiency with modern accounting technology such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Nexonia, Excel, and Generative AI
