• Make initial contacts with interested parties • Handle moderate to high exposure construction defect claims involving residential and commercial projects • Analyze coverage and draft coverage position letters as needed • Conduct liability investigations • Comply with DOI regulations • Retain and coordinate with defense counsel and experts to develop and execute litigation strategies • Manage litigation plans and budgets to ensure effective case resolution • Coordinate expert retention within agreed budgets • Establish timely indemnity and expense reserves based on documented exposure analysis • Continually revisit reserve adequacy • Draft comprehensive captioned reports requesting reserve and settlement authority for higher exposure cases • Prepare critical case details for roundtable presentations to carrier partners • Travel up to 10% to attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials • Keep current on case law changes and industry trends • Assist underwriting and other business partners
• Bachelor's degree preferred • Professional designations such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC, or JD are a plus • 7+ years of construction defect claims experience required • Must be licensed or have the ability to become licensed in all required states • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint • Advanced knowledge of end-to-end claims handling, including litigation • Knowledge of industry trends and legal developments affecting claims handling • Ability to manage multiple claims and competing priorities • Ability to adapt to evolving regulatory and legal environments • Ability to complete assigned tasks correctly and on time and learn quickly • Self-motivated with attention to detail • Ability to work independently for extended periods • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and general business understanding • Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, with occasional movement in the office to access cabinets and equipment
