• Investigate and resolve payment denial trends through extensive accounts receivable follow-up • Develop and implement strategies and procedures to reduce denials and maximize reimbursements • Use the practice management system to analyze accounts receivable trends and solicit payments from insurers and patients • Prepare appeal letters for unpaid or incorrectly paid claims • Resolve claim edits in the practice management billing system • Assist with training current and new employees on systems and departmental policies • Maintain current managed care and third-party payer policies and knowledge • Review and submit refund and write-off requests • Approve and perform write-offs as necessary • Perform other related duties as assigned
• High school diploma or GED • Approximately 3-5 years of medical billing experience, specifically accounts receivable experience • Knowledge of third-party reimbursement • Knowledge of medical terminology • Prior experience working with an eMR system • Experience using Microsoft Excel and other reporting software to sort, filter, and summarize data • Ability to function independently and exercise independent judgment • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Critical thinking and analytical skills • Organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment • Ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion • Professionalism • Ability to work collaboratively with departmental faculty and staff and institutional representatives • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications • Dedicated home workspace conducive to a healthy work environment
