• Execute routine HVAC/R service jobs and refrigerant recovery operations with minimal supervision • Perform preventative maintenance, service recovery equipment, and complete standard repairs at customer sites • Act as on-site lead when working with a Tech I assistant • Diagnose and resolve intermediate-level chiller and refrigeration system issues • Identify refrigerant leaks, failed components, and control system faults • Use pressure gauges, multimeters, recovery units, and other diagnostic tools • Interpret pressures, temperatures, error codes, manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins • Implement repairs or stable temporary fixes pending permanent solutions • Assist senior technicians or Leads with refrigerant retrofit conversions and chiller decontamination projects • Pull deep vacuums, charge refrigerant, flush oil, and replace filters under guidance • Coordinate on-site tools, materials, refrigerant inventory, and project logistics • Make minor field decisions and report progress or issues to the Service Manager or Lead • Mentor and train Service Tech I employees on procedures, safety, and troubleshooting • Communicate work performed to customers and address routine inquiries • Ensure customers are informed and satisfied before leaving the site
• 1–3 years of hands-on HVAC/R field service experience • EPA 608 Universal Certification (required) • OSHA-10 safety training or equivalent (required) • Valid driver’s license • Ability to meet DOT requirements for operating service vehicles • Forklift operation certification required, or must be obtained • Intermediate proficiency in Service Tech I duties • Knowledge of industrial chillers, refrigerant recovery units, vacuum pumps, and electrical control systems • Ability to read equipment manuals, basic wiring diagrams, and service bulletins • Familiarity with oil and refrigerant analysis sampling • Comfort using computers/tablets for service reports, email, and technical documentation • Ability to organize multiple work orders and prioritize on-site tasks • Clear communication skills for directing junior helpers and reporting job information • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot proactively • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs regularly • Ability to work at heights, on rooftops, and in varying weather conditions • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment • Ability to wear required PPE and safely operate service vehicles and equipment • Flexibility to work overtime and respond to emergency or on-call needs • Ability to travel up to 80% regionally and roughly 20% nationally, including overnight trips
