📋 Description

• Build shared platform capabilities for configuration, identity and permissions, tenant isolation, model and retrieval access, and evaluation • Extract shared capabilities from existing products without stopping delivery • Drive adoption of shared platform components across multiple teams • Make architecture and migration decisions across repositories from design through production operation • Set and uphold standards for ownership, code review, testing, security, and release • Enable client-specific behavior without forks or client-specific conditional code • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers on deployment, CI/CD, and observability • Ensure every important system has a second owner, including systems built by the role • Learn the codebase and existing platform work, agree migration sequencing, and become a second owner of a critical system during the first month • Deliver the first shared capability to production with tests, an owner, and an adoption plan during the second month • Drive second-product adoption or migration, document the next two quarters of platform work, and establish a second owner by the third month • Write production code weekly; this is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a management role

🎯 Requirements

• 8 or more years building production backend systems • Real Staff-scope experience, including architecture across several teams, migrations led from start to finish, and adoption driven in teams that did not report to you • Deep production TypeScript and Node.js • Comfortable in Python and reviewing code outside your main language • Experience designing, testing, and operating multi-tenant SaaS controls that prevent one client's data from reaching another • Experience taking a monolith apart or extracting shared services while it remained in production • Infrastructure judgment involving Kubernetes, GCP or AWS, CI/CD, and observability • Ability to design for infrastructure and review infrastructure work • Good security and data-handling instincts, ideally from a regulated environment • Clear written communication across three time zones • Ability to push back on unsafe shortcuts under pressure while maintaining trust • Nice to have: banking, insurance, or another regulated industry experience; security reviews, SOC 2, or Singapore's OSPAR • Nice to have: LLM application work, including model gateways, retrieval, prompt versioning, evaluation harnesses, and testing non-deterministic output • Nice to have: internal developer platforms or self-service configuration systems • Nice to have: real use of AI coding tools and an honest view of when they help and when they produce plausible code nobody has read
