• Lead the design, programming, commissioning, and validation of automated manufacturing equipment and control systems • Develop and modify PLC, HMI, servo, vision, and robotic control programs • Support new program launches and ensure controls systems meet project timing, quality, and production requirements • Establish process parameters, equipment controls, and monitoring systems • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, automation, and process-related issues • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, product engineering, and suppliers • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment downtime and quality concerns • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, network architecture, PLC/HMI backups, process control plans, and equipment standards • Participate in PFMEA and manufacturing feasibility reviews • Support capital equipment sourcing, installation, validation, and startup • Train maintenance and production personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance • Drive continuous improvement focused on OEE improvement, scrap reduction, cycle-time reduction, cost savings, and automation expansion • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and customer requirements • Manage capital equipment projects from concept through launch • Support equipment upgrades, troubleshooting, plant automation strategies, and new product launches
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical field • 7–10 years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment • Automotive Tier 1 supplier experience strongly preferred • Experience supporting automated assembly, injection molding, foam, or interior trim manufacturing processes preferred • PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Rockwell • Experience programming remote I/O using Rockwell/Balluff remote blocks • Industrial robotics experience with FANUC and ABB • Industrial networks experience with EtherNet/IP, Profibus/Serial I/O, and IO-Link • Electrical controls design and troubleshooting experience • Knowledge of safety systems and machine safeguarding • Experience with dynamic robotic pathing • Knowledge of cybersecurity for OT environments, including safe deployment/management of NAT and VPN for tooling machines • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Siemens S7/TIA Portal, and Beckhoff TwinCAT • Knowledge of structured programming, sequencing, interlocks, and fault recovery • Experience with AMRs/AGCs, Vidi, and Cognex Vision • Experience with digital twins, PLC simulation, robot simulation, and offline commissioning • Knowledge of MES traceability • Programming experience with Python, C#, C++, or JavaScript • Knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, MQTT, OPC UA, and historian connectivity • Knowledge of Euromap Data Transfer, Ignition, and Power BI • Ability to work in manufacturing and production environments • Ability to travel to plants, suppliers, and customer locations as required • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) preferred • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, IIoT, and advanced manufacturing systems preferred • Experience supporting global manufacturing launches preferred
