📋 Description

• Interface with other engineers to prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems • Perform long/short range planning, short circuit, load flow, motor starting, power factor correction, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) impact, load impact, and related studies • Participate in internal and external client meetings • Perform system modeling, including steady-state load flows using CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, SKM, or similar tools • Conduct system reliability and resiliency planning studies • Analyze distribution circuits for loading, voltage, reactive power, contingency, coordination, and reliability • Perform new load and generation interconnection studies • Recommend solutions and best practices for standard and non-standard situations • Perform detailed engineering analyses following standard methodology, criteria, and principles • Identify new technologies and work practices to reduce operational costs and potential safety hazards • Explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams • Self-manage project responsibilities and meet deadlines

🎯 Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET certified college or university • 2+ years of experience in distribution planning, operations, and electrical engineering system studies • Experience with hosting capacity analysis, contingency analysis, long-term capital investment studies, and model validation • Experience using power flow analysis software such as CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, or equivalent software • Ability to self-manage and work productively from home without supervision • Strong conceptualization ability • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills • Ability to explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams • Prior electric utility experience preferred • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred • Experience forecasting load and generation growth preferred • Familiarity with ASPEN, CAPE, or ETAP short circuit software preferred • Familiarity with ADMS and DERMS preferred • Familiarity with AutoCAD for distribution design or drafting preferred • Python experience for automating power system modeling software preferred • Familiarity with utility protection philosophy and short circuit studies preferred • Experience with renewable energy generation facility design preferred • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including technical report writing, preferred • Familiarity with Independent System Operators including PJM, MISO, CAISO, ERCOT, WECC, SERC, NYISO, NEISO, and SPP preferred
