• Manage activities related to third-party payer billing • Verify benefits and obtain authorizations • File claim submissions accurately and on time • Ensure claims comply with federal and state requirements and payer requirements • Interpret payer explanations of benefits (EOBs) to ensure proper reimbursement • Report billing problems, issues, and payer trends to management • Use payer web portals to determine reasons for front-end denials and correct and resubmit claims • Conduct insurance reverification and initiate billing to a new payer, reprocess claims, or bill patients as appropriate • Process third-party payer correspondence, refunds, and adjustments • Stay current on payer informational notices and changes • Share process-improvement information and ideas with the team • Respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner • Meet regular productivity targets while maintaining high quality • Comply with work instructions, policies, and behavioral expectations • No supervisory responsibilities
• Associate Degree or equivalent preferred; minimum two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Preferred experience related to Negative Pressure Wound Therapy • Organizational skills • Good troubleshooting skills • Strong attention to detail • Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook • Operate Express/HDMS/WayStar proficiently • Understanding of insurance guidelines including Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation, and commercial managed-care plans • Ability to handle inquiries and respond via telephone or in writing • Ability to explain and resolve collections-related questions/issues to patients, sales representatives, and facilities • Proper use of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes • Ability to independently meet tight deadlines in a project-based atmosphere • Minimum 2 years of medical experience • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience • Ability to interpret payer explanations of benefits (EOBs) • Ability to work with payer web portals and process claims • Understanding of DME and healthcare-related billing • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
