• Analyze construction blueprints to determine quantities and costs of materials and fixtures and required labor • Assist the Estimating department with team bids or lead a team bid • Conduct client follow-up and assist the Sr. Estimator / Chief Estimator with client outreach and business development • Create and revise estimates, proposals, and change orders • Work with Preconstruction and Operations to develop accurate labor, time, and materials proposals • Identify project cost trends to support cost reduction and process improvements • Manage project handoff from estimating to project management after award • Request vendor and equipment supplier quotes and confirm specification adherence and quote accuracy • Perform takeoffs for assigned projects • Conduct takeoffs and specification reviews for team bids • Assist or lead team bids by understanding RFPs, indirect costs, client bid breakdowns, and bid documents • Delegate tasks to team members based on experience and ability • Perform design/build bids and identify and quantify project unknowns or ambiguities • Work with Engineering to finalize costs and design • Conduct weekly outreach and follow-up on pending bids • Bid $6M–$9M individually on a monthly basis • Clarify questions and ambiguities before bid reviews • Perform other duties as assigned
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (electrical engineering, construction management, etc.) or an Electrical Journeyman’s License • Minimum 5 years of electrical industry estimating experience • Experience in mission critical, large commercial, or water treatment preferred • Good quantitative and analytical skills • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and electrical theory • Proficient in reading construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and data sheets • Experience in layout of electrical equipment and systems, including electrical one-lines and feeder/branch circuit analysis • Excellent verbal and written communication • Good instructional ability, with patience to explain software and electrical concepts • Effective time management, planning, organization, and ability to handle multiple initiatives • Self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in business strategies • Employment contingent upon successful background investigation and drug screening • Must complete drug and alcohol screening, E-Verify, driving record, and background check • Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status • Must be physically able to perform essential functions; lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
