• Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major-gift donors and prospects capable of five- and six-figure commitments. • Lead the full gift cycle for a defined portfolio within the Intellectual Builders donor community and corporate giving segment. • Manage a portfolio of 100–150 major-gift prospects and donors. • Develop and implement individualized cultivation and solicitation plans. • Maintain a personal solicitation calendar, conduct donor visits, present funding opportunities, and close gifts and multi-year commitments. • Participate in moves management and portfolio review activities. • Identify and qualify new prospects, including substantial direct cold outreach. • Own relationship development within the Intellectual Builders donor community and corporate giving segment. • Coordinate with Development Operations, Portfolio Management, Foundations, and Communications & Marketing. • Engage executive leadership, program scholars, and Programs staff for high-level donor relationships, intellectual content, site visits, and key commitments. • Maintain accurate portfolio activity records in Salesforce, including opportunities, contact reports, cultivation status, and solicitation plans. • Support pipeline planning and gift forecasting. • Report to the Managing Director of Development and Communications. • No supervisory responsibilities.
• 3+ years of front-line fundraising experience across the donor gift cycle, including a record of closing five-figure and, ideally, six-figure commitments. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build trust and sustain professional relationships with donors and prospects. • Substantive familiarity with the policy, economic, and intellectual interests relevant to IHS's donor community. • Demonstrated ability to qualify prospects and initiate donor relationships from first contact, including sustained cold outreach. • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce), including independent creation and maintenance of the officer's own opportunities, activities, and contact reports. • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to independently manage a complex, multi-stage national portfolio with consistent follow-through. • Preferred: Experience in corporate or institutional giving, including developing an under-built giving segment. • Preferred: Knowledge of and appreciation for the classical liberal tradition. • Preferred: Experience fundraising within a think tank, university, or policy-oriented nonprofit.
