• Collect, review, and analyze data within medical records and trauma care reports • Ensure comprehensive quality care and identify performance gaps • Review reports and charts using American College of Surgeons and Oklahoma State Department of Health inclusion criteria to identify qualifying patients • Code and report treatment using ICD-10-CM and Abbreviated Injury Scale coding • Review care and identify variations in processes or outcomes • Manage data, case findings, abstracting, retrieval, and analysis • Ensure registry functions meet American College of Surgeons, National Trauma Data Bank, and Trauma Quality Improvement Program guidelines • Report statistics to physicians, administration, and outside agencies • Assist with Trauma Registry information • Meet record-completion guidelines • Participate in inter-rater validation of abstracted patient records
• Utilization of electronic Medical Records • Fully remote positions require a minimum of one year trauma registrar experience • Graduate of Health Information Management baccalaureate OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health-related field, including experience in coding, abstracting data, or emergency room activities for the required education/certification • American Trauma Society-Trauma Registry Course within 12 months of hire • Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine-Abbreviated Injury Scale Course within 12 months of hire • American Trauma Society-ICD-10 Coding Course within 12 months of hire • Understanding of medical terminology • Knowledge of principles and practices of trauma registry and medical records and policies and procedures • Knowledge of indexing, classification and staging systems • Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology pertaining to trauma processes • Database management skills, especially abstracting and coding trauma-related data from computerized medical records and laboratory reports • Knowledge of report writing • Good computer and interpersonal skills
