📋 Description

• Code medical bills into the company system accurately while meeting production standards • Perform preliminary screening for appropriateness and medical necessity of services rendered • Use CPT and ICD9/ICD10 codes, fee schedules, and resource materials to determine appropriate reimbursement • Apply applicable fee schedules and repricing rationale • Flag problem bills to the Bill Review supervisor • Communicate with clients and/or providers to clarify information • Forward unidentifiable unlisted procedure numbers to the Bill Review supervisor • Price hospital and surgery bills according to applicable fee schedules • Process reconsideration requests as assigned • Specialize in state-specific or client-specific areas as needed • Assist with answering provider calls • Meet daily production quotas and quality standards • Work under limited supervision; no supervisory responsibilities

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) • Minimum of one year data entry/medical billing experience • Additional two years bill review experience in a workers’ comp environment • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD9/ICD10 coding and workers compensation fee schedules • Familiarity with workers’ compensation regulations • Good comprehension of company software system process • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including rates, ratios, and percentages • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software • Must have Medical Bill Reviewer Designation – 40 hour initial certification plus continuing education hours of 16 hours every 2 years • Ability to work an eight-hour shift, sit for long periods, type or work at a keyboard most of the day, and read a video display terminal for long periods
