📋 Description

• Review electronic medical record documentation and apply ICD and CPT codes according to Official Coding Guidelines, focusing on professional major surgical services • Abstract key data elements necessary for billing and data analysis • Review and code patient records for hospitalist rounds and office visits involving repetitive or non-invasive procedures • Analyze medical records to assign ICD diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, modifiers, hierarchical condition categories, complications, and comorbidities • Evaluate the appropriateness of diagnosis and procedure codes and modifiers in response to Outpatient Code Editor and National Correct Coding Initiative edits • Meet defined coding accuracy standards • Meet defined coding productivity standards • Stay current with coding and industry changes through educational opportunities • Abide by AHIMA/AAPC Standards of Ethical Coding and official coding guidelines

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED - Required • 4 years Coding - Required • Cardiology Experience - Required • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) - AHIMA - Required, or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist - Physician) - AHIMA - Required, or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) - AAPC - Required • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) - AHIMA within 180 days - Preferred, or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) - AHIMA within 180 days - Preferred • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management - Preferred • Must adhere to official coding guidelines and Standards of Ethical Coding • Travel is required: Never or Rarely
