📋 Description

• Reviews and codes patient records in hospitalist rounds and office visits • Determines when documentation should be utilized for appropriate assignment of ICD diagnosis codes • Validates accurate representation of patient's clinical picture, treatment, and diagnoses • Identifies when documentation relevant to the coding process is missing • Meets defined coding accuracy standards and productivity standards • Remains current with coding and industry changes through participation in educational opportunities

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED - Required • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management - Preferred • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management - Preferred • 2 years Coding - Required • Surgery Coding experience - Preferred • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - Required • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) within 180 days - Required • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) within 180 days - Required
