📋 Description

• Act as a liaison between clinical and coding functions • Educate medical staff and clinical professionals on documentation relevant to Revenue Management processes and Discharge Not Final Billed reduction • Interact daily with physicians and clinical professionals regarding documentation clarification and optimization • Analyze clinical information and documentation to support the overall System Case Mix Index • Review inpatient medical records within 24–48 hours of admission • Assign principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses, procedures, working DRG assignment, severity of illness, and risk of mortality • Conduct subsequent record reviews every three days through discharge • Formulate queries for missing, conflicting, or unclear documentation • Educate physicians and healthcare providers on clinical documentation improvement • Collaborate with nursing staff, nutrition, pharmacists, and physicians to resolve queries before discharge • Meet established productivity targets for record review • Identify strategies for sustained work process changes supporting complete and accurate documentation • Analyze and trend statistical data and identify improvement opportunities • Partner with inpatient coding professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses, procedures, DRG assignments, severity of illness, and risk of mortality • Serve as a resource for interdisciplinary teams to promote collaboration and coordination of patient care

🎯 Requirements

• At least three (3) years of RN work experience • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) • Understanding of Anatomy and Physiology • Clinical skills sufficient to discuss underlying etiology, principal diagnosis, diagnostic studies, and treatment modalities with physicians • Skills in communication, medical records systems, and multitasking • BSN strongly preferred
