📋 Description

• Set the strategy for supporting AI safety university groups • Decide how programs fit together and what initiatives to start, stop, or scale • Launch new initiatives such as regional organizers, residencies, and focused university support • Set investment standards for groups and organizers and allocate funding • Represent Kairos’s university groups work to organizers, universities, funders, and partner organizations • Define new roles and own hiring and onboarding for the groups team • Manage the groups team as it grows • Contribute to organization-wide strategy, new programs, and cross-cutting work • Report to Neav Topaz, co-director

🎯 Requirements

• Experience organizing an AI safety university group (or similar), running programs that support them, or working closely with the organizer ecosystem • Views on how fieldbuilding translates into impact • Sufficient AI safety ecosystem context to judge promising groups, organizers, and bets • Strong judgment about people, including organizers to back and hiring decisions • Ambitious, high-agency approach • Deep concern about risks from advanced AI and belief in university groups as a promising intervention • Preference for candidates able to attend meetings in the ET time zone • Visa sponsorship may be possible depending on circumstances, but is not guaranteed
