• Lead estimating activities and provide accurate bid proposals and scope analysis for potential projects • Develop pricing estimates for new projects and change orders on existing contracts • Review, analyze, and interpret contract documents, specifications, drawings, and reference information • Establish and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders • Identify project competitive advantages and risks and communicate them with Operations • Provide value engineering and design-assist solutions, including cost and schedule impacts • Collaborate with Operations on production, schedule, staffing, and related inputs • Develop construction plans as the basis for cost estimating • Conduct detailed project take-offs and quantify scope items • Create complete estimates covering alternates, general conditions, vendor and subcontractor pricing, materials, equipment, labor production, and wage rates • Solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing, review prequalification requirements, and select qualified subcontractors • Identify project-specific risks and mitigation strategies • Prepare comprehensive proposals with durations, assumptions, exclusions, and required submission documentation • Follow up with customers on pricing and scope feedback, promote Kent differentiators, and request value-discussion meetings • Track opportunities and follow-up using Unanet CRM • Participate in post-bid interviews when requested • Maintain preconstruction schedules and bid calendars • Assist with project hand-off to project management and field operations • Identify improvements to estimating processes • Develop preliminary project schedules and pour plans with Operations input
• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering • 5+ years of concrete estimating experience • 5 years in a leadership capacity • Proven experience managing concrete preconstruction processes • In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices • Experience building relationships and working with subcontractors and vendors • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Valid driver's license • Reliable transportation • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving • Ability to pass a drug screening • Practical leadership abilities, including motivation, goal setting, and conflict management • Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking • Creative and results-oriented, with a keen sense of urgency and self-motivation • Ability to work Monday through Friday, typically 7am–5pm, with possible 45–50-hour weeks • Ability to work atypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules • Availability to accept phone calls during atypical workdays and hours • Minimal overnight travel may be required
