📋 Description

• Handle on-demand video and telephone interpreting sessions • Render the meaning of conversations between Spanish and English speakers • Provide interpretation across healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911 industries • Respond promptly to interpreting sessions in a friendly and professional manner • Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions • Deliver audio and video interpretation services and type data on a dedicated device • Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions • Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions • Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during sensitive or emergency calls • Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours • Follow client instructions and protocol while avoiding unauthorized interaction with the LEP • Understand terminology and protocols for medical, insurance, finance, and law industries • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment • Work from a quiet and secure home office

🎯 Requirements

• Fluency in Spanish and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to find ways of communicating with the LEP • Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation • Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, remain neutral and objective at all times, including during sensitive subjects • Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred • Must be able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements • Must be at least 18 years of age • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Work authorization must not now or in the future require visa sponsorship in the United States or with LanguageLine Solutions • High school diploma or equivalent • Dedicated personal device for business purposes • Desktop/laptop with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS; tablets and smartphones with iPadOS, Android, or iOS are acceptable • Kaspersky products and Huawei hardware are restricted • High-speed internet with at least 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ping no more than 300 ms, and jitter no more than 30 ms • Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction • Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain stationary in front of a computer and webcam for most of the workday • Must use a headset for prolonged periods • Ability to operate company-provided software and systems • Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write • Able to lift up to 26 lbs • May be exposed to moderate noise levels
