• Serve as a messenger and conveyor of MCHAP’s faith, mission, and purpose • Visit company worksites, usually weekly, to interact with employees and build relationships of trust and friendship motivated by Christian faith • Visit employees or immediate family members in hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, or other locations where care can be expressed and help given • Provide confidential pastoral discussions on family matters, divorce, serious illness, aging-parent care, death and grief recovery, parenting, financial stress, and other personal issues • Provide referrals and coordinate specialized assistance for employees and immediate family members with specific needs • Assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals and provide follow-up grief support • Make jail visits to employees and immediate family members when needed • Serve notifications of death and serious injuries to families and employees and encourage those affected by tragedies • Provide post-termination care for laid-off or terminated employees • Facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities • Provide literature and other resources for employees’ life issues • Represent companies to clients/customers when ministry services are appropriate, including serious illnesses, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals • Participate in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and Chaplain Team role • Perform other duties and services requested by company executive leadership with EDO permission and within the Letter of Agreement
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary group and in an interfaith setting • Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values • Effective listening and interaction skills with clients, employees, and families • Ability to deliver community presentations • Ability to deal effectively with family members and staff under stressful circumstances • High regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families • Ability to cope with stressful situations and document accurately according to standards • Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle and MCHAP Ministry values • Fundamental understanding of the Holy Bible and its proper application • Saving faith in Jesus Christ and active participation in a biblically based church • Professional interaction skills, including diplomacy, patience, and courtesy with diverse groups • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to maintain emotional stability when coping with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses • Skill in analyzing information, defining and following up on problems or objectives • Ability to identify solutions and solve problems • Skill in interpreting position-related policies and procedures and keeping others informed • Computer proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, internet, email messaging, and web-based software applications • Ability to learn new technology programs • Active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance in the state(s) where servicing clients • Must pass a pre-employment background check
• Part-time schedule with assigned hours generally consistent week to week, although no guaranteed minimum hours • Remote position in the field • Flexible availability based on Chaplain availability and client requirements
