📋 Description

• Lead MEDA’s external communications team and serve as the global functional communications lead • Support Philanthropy & Public Engagement, the CEO’s Office, other MEDA divisions and regional activities • Serve as a member of MEDA’s Senior Management Team and report to the VP, Integrated Communications & Thought Leadership • Create and oversee written content, including scripts, articles, emails, talking points and key communications for the President & CEO • Oversee the Content Studio, including request processes, output quality, time and resource tracking • Plan and manage the annual report • Advise on advertisements, promotional materials and job placements • Author and oversee high-impact website content and blog channels • Develop and distribute news releases to relevant media outlets • Create video concepts and scripts and manage video production • Define and implement unified corporate communications and external communications strategies • Manage reputation through daily media monitoring and recommendations to the ELT • Advise on crisis communications and issues management • Coordinate strategic plan rollouts and communication of priorities • Implement and monitor brand strategies and standards • Coordinate content needs with regional, philanthropy, strategy, impact and executive stakeholders • Manage agencies and freelance communications providers • Oversee MEDA’s Digital Asset Manager (Mediavalet) • Lead the integrated social media approach across LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram • Recommend social media posts for the President & CEO and report on trends, statistics and engagement • Develop, implement and administer MEDA’s website • Report on website statistics aligned with MEDA’s KPIs • Oversee website design, content layout, coding, testing, maintenance, accessibility, UX and SEO • Coordinate website content with Mastercard Foundation Africa Growth Fund staff • Supervise and manage the Communications team, including recruitment, selection, performance management, development and workflow improvement

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English or a related field • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications-related roles • Excellent writing, editing and content production skills in English • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and WordPress or a similar content management system • Understanding and working knowledge of content management systems, web platforms and systems related to keeping the website online, backed up and secure • Proficiency in Adobe suite software is an asset • Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith statement, values and goals • Understanding and appreciation of business principles, international development, and MEDA’s approach to creating business solutions to poverty • Project management skills • Contract management experience • Team leadership and organization skills • Effective communication skills to work across the organization • Awareness of current digital and nonprofit communication trends • Judgement and creativity in acquisition, development and assessment of media sources • Familiarity with MEDA’s individual and institutional funder constituencies • Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel as required • Must be able to work legally in the country where the role is based; MEDA cannot sponsor or assist with work permits
