📋 Description

• Create content for the NY Daily News’ digital, social, and print platforms • Develop, report, analyze, and create original news and feature stories in text and multimedia formats • Work on the breaking news team, primarily gathering information about developing events in the field • Provide fast, accurate, and transparent reporting • Conceive stories, produce or secure visuals, obtain sources, corroborate facts, and present information effectively • Maximize audience engagement through photo galleries, video, aggregation, and varied layouts • Fact-check, run background checks, and confirm information before publication • Deliver work on time with minimal to moderate supervision and editing • Cultivate beats and sources and uncover exclusive stories • Contribute story ideas several times a week and identify emerging trends • Create and edit videos, maps, timelines, multimedia, documents, graphics, photo galleries, GIFs, and social aggregations • Take or secure photos and create basic videos for the content management system • Measure digital content performance using audience engagement metrics • Work with audience, data, and visuals teams to develop audience strategies and data visualizations • Participate in production videos and live streaming • Meet individual goals assigned by the supervisor • Occasionally drive for work assignments, training sessions, and meetings

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required • One year reporting at a news publication or website • Excellent command of verbal and written English • Professional-level grasp of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation • Ability to write accurately, with clarity, without bias • Knowledge of libel laws and adherence to the Editorial’s codes of ethics • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit • Competitive instincts • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a team dynamic • Up-to-date skills on various digital platforms • Familiarity with current events and newsmakers • Quick-turnaround skills • Basic familiarity with analytics and ability to translate data into tactics and strategies, including Chartbeat and Adobe Analytics • Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and other social platforms • Basic knowledge of SEO best practices • Must reside in NY or NJ • Must be willing to submit and pass a full pre-employment background check and MVR • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation • Must be available for shift work and various hours outside normal business hours
