📋 Description

• Lead a team of 4 to 8 senior engineers to deliver high-availability banking services • Translate company and product direction into clear, measurable team objectives • Build a predictable delivery system that makes progress, risks, and tradeoffs visible • Balance customer-facing improvements with platform reliability, operational readiness, and long-term maintainability • Partner with Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to make Mercury’s banking products reliable, understandable, and useful • Hire and onboard engineers while maintaining a consistent, high-quality interview process • Hold the team accountable for responsible use of AI-assisted development, including testing, evaluation, review, and production safeguards • Give clear, useful feedback to engineers at every level • Create an environment where engineers can do their best work and grow technical and leadership skills

🎯 Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team • Experience building or operating reliable financial, banking, payments, or other high-integrity systems • Comfort working across product, policy, infrastructure, and operational boundaries • Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear decisions, owners, and execution plans • Strong technical judgment and ability to engage deeply with system design and implementation • Experience developing senior engineers and creating opportunities for engineers to lead • Deep care for correctness, reliability, customer experience, and operational excellence • Familiarity with Haskell and TypeScript, or interest in learning them
