• Serve as an initial point of contact for patients • Facilitate patient entry into Mercy facilities • Schedule patient services • Register patients • Verify benefits • Complete pre-certification and financial clearance, including pre-visit collection • Obtain and enter accurate patient data into patient records • Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation agencies • Communicate with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical hospital staff, and insurance companies • Deliver customer service consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards
• High School diploma required • 1–3 years of clerical experience and customer service experience preferred • Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing • Excellent telephone etiquette • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical hospital staff, and insurance companies • Exceptional attention to detail • Knowledge and competence with insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation agencies • Certifications: None
