• Manage the sale of Merit products in the South Region • Assist Account Executives in understanding and meeting existing and potential client needs • Hire, develop, train, and provide feedback to sales representatives • Monitor individual and team progress toward sales goals • Provide feedback to marketing and production to improve products and product quality • Evaluate and hire Account Executives and train them on customer needs, products, and sales methods • Coach sales representatives in sales presentations, productivity, training follow-up, product and policy questions, pricing changes, and work planning • Handle Account Executive and client questions about pricing, defective products, and product replacement • Report individual and corporate sales-goal progress • Develop marketing strategies and assist representatives with implementation • Review reports to monitor sales volume and profitability • Coordinate with manufacturing, marketing, and other departments to resolve product-quality and process problems • Prepare performance and sales reports for management and sales representatives • Monitor customer satisfaction and identify product-improvement and problem-prevention opportunities • Monitor product competition and market share • Perform other required duties
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Business, with extensive course work in marketing • Minimum of seven years of experience as a sales manager overseeing a successful sales force, preferably in the medical device industry • Excellent understanding of sales techniques and customer service principles • Ability to evaluate sales presentation effectiveness and improve sales representatives' presentations • Thorough understanding of management principles and ability to select, develop, and manage a sales team • Ability to understand factors affecting long-term profitability and work effectively with others to optimize sales of medical products • Willingness to work long hours and travel frequently • Demonstrated knowledge of the medical manufacturing business • Ability to work with manufacturing and marketing staff to improve products and methods • Tactfulness and skill working with a broad variety of individuals in a manufacturing environment • Excellent record keeping and reporting skills, including oral and written communication • Demonstrated computer skills, preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs • Ability to perform physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs., writing, sitting, standing, bending, reading, and visual, color, depth, and peripheral vision
