📋 Description

• Work under the supervision of staff attorneys on all aspects of MPLP’s work • Conduct client interviews • Draft pleadings • Conduct legal research and writing for individual cases and broader policy issues • Appear in court hearings under the Michigan student practice rule • Assess legal problems • Convey legal advice through oral and written communication • Conduct educational seminars for clients • Track and analyze legislation • Participate in systemic advocacy projects in poverty law areas including housing, public benefits, consumer, foreclosure, family law, and racial justice

🎯 Requirements

• Current law student • Must have completed at least one year of law school • Must reside in the state of Michigan while working for MSAS • Experience working with low-income persons is helpful • Commitment to assisting underserved populations is helpful • Submit a resume and cover letter • Work 10–20 hours per week from September 1–December 11, 2026
