• Plan clinical trials based on the clinical development strategy, including study design and operational planning • Provide medical oversight and manage the overall conduct of clinical trials for investigational or marketed drugs • Manage assigned clinical development activities across study design, initiation, execution, monitoring, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication • Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety and efficacy decisions, new drug applications, clinical study reports, and publications • Participate in internal and joint internal/external research project teams for new and marketed compounds • Support business development assessments of external opportunities • Engage with functional areas to support study execution • Collaborate with commercialization, regulatory affairs, statistics, and manufacturing experts on clinical development projects • Keep colleagues informed of study progress involving company and competitor drugs • Provide expert scientific opinions internally and externally • Maintain knowledge of scientific developments and research methodologies in hematology • Identify strong clinical investigators and establish communications with prominent investigators • Attend scientific meetings to maintain competency and awareness of research activities • Author development documents, presentations, budgets, and position papers • Facilitate collaborations with external researchers around the world • Travel on company business approximately 20% of the time to manage clinical research projects
• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. required • Experience in industry or as senior faculty in academia • Minimum 3 years of clinical medicine experience • Minimum 1 year of industry experience in drug development or biomedical research experience in academia • Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement • Proven track record in clinical medicine and background in biomedical research • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team environment • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills • Board Certified or Eligible in Oncology, Hematology, or related discipline preferred • Prior specific experience in clinical research and prior publication preferred • Knowledge of academic presentations, biomedical research, clinical investigations, clinical judgment, clinical research, clinical trial planning and support, cross-functional teamwork, ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and scientific consulting • Ability to adapt and integrate new technology • Approximately 20% business travel
