• Maintain the Hospital based registry of cancer patients • Identification, abstracting, reporting, follow-up, and statistical compilation for local, state, and national registration programs • Assisting in the maintenance of a hospital-wide cancer program in compliance with regulatory requirements • Managing an ACoS approved cancer registry under VDH guidelines • Participating in Cancer Committee meetings and coordinating cancer conferences • Maintaining cancer conference documentation • Training and mentoring other Cancer Registry staff • Performing case ascertainment procedures • Communicating with physicians and/or office managers on documentation needs • Transmitting hospital cancer data to Virginia Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base • Assisting in the development of policies and procedures for cancer registry operations
• ODS or CTR certification, required • Associates degree preferred in an allied health field, preferred • Experience utilizing medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, required • Experience with computerized systems, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, required • One year experience in an ACOS approved cancer registry, preferred • Prior experience working with physicians, preferred
