📋 Description

• Drive a global strategy advancing Indigenous and community leadership across TNC’s conservation work • Shape delivery of TNC’s 2030 goals through equitable, durable, and community-led outcomes • Influence systems, financing, partnerships, governance, and high-level decision-making • Lead and evolve TNC’s global Indigenous and Community Leadership in Conservation strategy • Translate vision into actionable frameworks, priorities, partnerships, investments, evaluation, and adaptive management • Integrate Indigenous and community leadership across conservation, climate, and policy programs • Embed Indigenous and community leadership into programmatic strategies, funding mechanisms, finance, governance, and partnerships • Lead and manage a global, multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed team of approximately six staff • Build an inclusive, high-performing culture and develop a succession plan • Serve on the Conservation Leadership Team and Equitable Conservation Leadership Team • Act as global thought leader and primary spokesperson for Indigenous- and community-led conservation • Build partnerships with Indigenous leaders, community organizations, global NGOs, multilaterals, and funders • Represent TNC in global forums and influence conservation and climate fields • Advance fundraising and donor engagement strategies • Align resources and investments with global ICLC priorities • Ensure effective program delivery and measurable conservation outcomes • Collaborate across Equitable Conservation and TNC functions including Global Protect, Provide, Climate, Science, Policy and Public Funding, and Impact Finance and Markets • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives and cross-boundary efforts • Align global strategy with regional implementation

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a leader in conservation, the non-profit sector, advocacy, or a related for-profit area • Majority of experience gained outside the U.S., with emphasis on the global south • Demonstrated commitment to developing and practicing global literacy • Management experience leading and managing a global, multidisciplinary team • Experience working in or as a partner to global, matrixed organizations • Written and verbal fluency in English required • People management experience through direct or project supervision • Executive decision-making abilities and strategy-driven approach • Experience communicating with and presenting to donors, board members, employees, and external partners • Desired: Master’s degree and minimum of 10+ years’ experience as a proven leader in conservation, advocacy, Indigenous and tribal governance, or a related area • Deep professional and/or lived expertise in Indigenous rights, community leadership, governance, and/or equitable conservation • Extensive management experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives, and managing performance of large multidisciplinary teams • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational strategy and systems • Experience in fundraising and budget management • Proven talent in budgeting, staffing, and performance management • Technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus • Demonstrated operational, implementation, and detail-oriented perspective • Ability to work effectively in a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization • Must meet TNC’s background screening requirements
