📋 Description

• Resolve claim edits and report candidates for bill • Submit compliant, clean, complete, accurate claims within timely filing requirements • Meet productivity, quality, error-ratio, target, and reporting standards • Follow up on and collect third-party payer receivables • Perform denial and appeal follow-up, including root-cause analysis and efforts to overturn denials • Correspond with third-party payers regarding outstanding accounts receivable via statements, letters, emails, faxes, and portals • Support third-party accounts receivable operations across managed care, commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, replacement plans, workers’ compensation, corporate, research, and specialty accounts • Review work lists daily to complete accounts ready for processing • Apply government, commercial, and regulatory collection guidelines • Recommend contractual or administrative write-offs with justification and documentation • Protect patient health information and comply with HIPAA • Contribute to department accounts-receivable goals • Identify customer, system, and process improvement opportunities and submit them to management • Use hospital mainframe, external software applications, assigned hardware, and related menus/pathways; report technical problems • Participate in software application testing and verify field integrity • Assist with special projects and other assigned duties • Attend assigned and approved training and seminars • Provide customer service and expertise to patients, authorized guarantors, and internal and external contacts through oral and written communication • Demonstrate proficient use of systems and processes • Work with physician and facility billing and follow-up, including Medicare and Medicaid insurance rules

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma • One year related work experience or college degree • Ability to perform mathematical calculations • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices • Extensive experience and knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel • Ability to learn quickly and meet continuous timelines • Behaviors consistent with principles of excellent service • Two or more years’ college or college degree (preferred) • Call center, telephone work experience or cash collections experience (preferred) • Knowledge of Epic Systems (preferred) • Two years progressive work experience in a hospital/physician billing or SBO environment (preferred) • Detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed (preferred) • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and a heavy workload in a high-stress atmosphere (preferred) • Flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work needs (preferred) • High-level problem solving, analytical, and investigational skills (preferred) • Excellent internal/external customer service skills (preferred) • Must comply with HIPAA privacy standards and relevant regulatory, accreditation, Joint Commission, and organizational policies • Must complete authorization and disclosure form for the required background check if offered the position
