• Lead the electrical engineering process for projects serving industrial facilities • Collaborate with electrical designers and multidisciplinary teams from initial design through startup support • Complete medium- and low-voltage electrical engineering calculations and documentation packages • Prepare plans, sections, details, and other electrical design deliverables according to industry, client, and company standards • Apply relevant codes including NFPA 70, 70E, 30, 58, and 497, NEMA, API 500 and 540, and IEEE • Coordinate project deliverables, deadlines, and interdisciplinary needs • Develop and check one-line diagrams, conduit plans, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layouts and bills of materials, lighting plans, P&IDs, PLC and DCS wiring diagrams, and motor schematics • Communicate with clients and electrical utilities regarding new or upgraded service installations • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, process, and structural engineers to identify design conflicts and efficiencies • Support business development and marketing efforts, including proposal preparation, scope, and budget • Review contractor construction submittals and requests for information • Coordinate with equipment vendors to review and approve specifications on behalf of clients • Seek continuous improvement for self and department • Travel within the United States 15% to 20% for site investigations, design reviews, and construction support
• 10+ years of experience completing projects for industrial-sector clients, from concept through completion, including estimating, start-up, and commissioning • Relevant experience in oil and gas, refinery, pulp and paper, or other industrial environments • Comfort working in industrial facilities and around the equipment therein • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution required • Professional Engineer (PE) required • Strong experience with power system modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower • Ability to perform voltage drop, cable tray fill, cable tray sizing, conduit sizing, and equipment sizing calculations • Working knowledge of protection devices such as power circuit breakers, MCCBs, fuses, and relay protection • Experience estimating heavy industrial electrical engineering and construction costs • Ability to excel with minimum supervision and strong desire to learn and develop knowledge and skills • Strong background combining project management and engineering skills • Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance • Strong written, oral communication, writing, and presentation skills • Proficiency with Bluebeam, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application; Norwest Engineering does not sponsor employment visas
