📋 Description

• Provide field coaching, mentorship, and management to field-based Medical Liaisons • Develop and implement strategies aligned to identified territory archetypes • Manage relationships with key opinion leaders, organized providers, academic institutions, integrated delivery networks, and other healthcare organizations • Ensure timely, up-to-date scientific information is provided to healthcare providers • Support personal development and collaboration between Medical Liaison teams and Novo Nordisk units • Represent Field Medical Affairs throughout the US affiliate and globally as needed • Provide administrative and management support for the field-based FMA program • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies • Establish operating policies and procedures, budgets, schedules, and performance standards • Lead and participate in area and national projects, team meetings, and training • Coordinate FMA activities at assigned medical and scientific meetings and symposia • Present at symposia and maintain relationships with key healthcare providers • Participate in Marketing and Sales meetings and provide industry insight • Identify investigators for clinical trials and future research areas • Respond to medical questions in accordance with legal, regulatory, and company guidelines • Review direct-report expense reports, time, activities, plans, and budgets • Channel information and respond to Medical Liaison support requests • Work with Regional and Medical Marketing teams to develop thought-leader relationships • Assist with presentations for Pre-POA, POA, and other company meetings • Support product and clinical-data education using approved resources • Assist with recruitment and selection of staff • Set and review annual goals and coach reporting personnel on IDPs • Communicate policies, procedures, and organizational changes • Coordinate training and development approaches with other Field Directors • Ensure personnel understand Novo Nordisk’s strategic and therapeutic priorities • Evaluate Medical Liaisons in the field and provide timely performance feedback • Mentor Field Directors, Medical Liaisons, and RMSs • Prepare Medical Liaisons for field activities by reviewing agendas and decks • Build the technical, scientific, business, communication, and motivational capabilities of reporting personnel • Spend field time with direct reports to coach and develop them • Conduct workforce assessments to identify talent gaps and resource needs • Ensure reporting personnel maintain development plans, goals, measurements, learning plans, and aspiration plans • Manage application and communication of Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way

🎯 Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in Medical Liaison or equivalent role • 6 years of previous management experience, including at least 2 years leading field medical affairs personnel • Internal Field Area Director experience may substitute for 6 years of management experience • 8 years of progressive pharmaceutical industry experience • At least 3 years of healthcare system experience preferred • Advanced healthcare or science degree required, such as DO, MD, PharmD, PhD, or DNP • Direct therapeutic-area experience preferred • Proven success establishing relationships with opinion leaders and organized providers • Strategy and team management experience • Significant cross-functional collaborative leadership capabilities • Ability to establish and strengthen internal and external customer relationships • Ability to enhance Novo Nordisk’s image and operations as a leading diabetes care company • Ability to proactively identify, address, and resolve team-wide challenges with minimal supervision • Commitment to self-development, leadership and personal development, scientific literature review, and competitor knowledge • Ability to work autonomously and strategically and share best practices • Flexibility and foresight to navigate field medical personnel through a changing market • Leadership and strategic thinking skills to support less experienced Field Directors • Valid driver’s license • Must maintain good standing under Novo Nordisk’s motor vehicle record points threshold • Ability to travel overnight 50–75% of the time
