• Perform proactive/prospective audits, retrospective/defense audits, and targeted and ad hoc charge capture audits • Work with clinical personnel during audits • Schedule and prepare action plans • Report during the Chart Audit Committee • Consult with clinical departments to ensure charges and medical documentation are appropriate and complete for HIM and billing purposes • Assist with special projects • Conduct internal training to ensure revenue-cycle competency and compliance • Perform defensive and charge capture auditing functions • Handle all aspects of the Chart Audit Committee • Communicate audit results with applicable stakeholders • Resolve assigned pre-bill and post-bill edit questions • Adapt communication and patient interactions to the specific patient population • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements • Report known or suspected unethical, questionable, safety, privacy, or compliance-related concerns
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice • 5 years of related healthcare experience, OR 3 years of related healthcare experience with a master's degree • Proficiency using computers, software, and web-based applications • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals • Strong conflict resolution skills • Strong presentation skills • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements • Ability to work with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and enter isolation rooms • Ability to work in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
