• Complete a full-time 6–7 week new Investigator training program, virtually and in person, to become certified in the Federal Investigative Standards. • Conduct daily in-person background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information. • Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family. • Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities. • Type and report obtained information clearly and concisely using a government-issued computer system. • Work independently as part of a team of investigators and with a Field Manager. • Travel locally and outside the primary work area, including possible 14–30 day Temporary Duty Assignments.
• 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor’s degree may be considered. • Experience conducting federal background investigations preferred. • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret-eligible clearance. • Active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication preferred. • U.S. citizenship required. • Must reside within 20 miles of Washington, DC city center. • Daily local and out-of-area travel required. • Home office required. • Temporary Duty Assignments of 14–30 days away from home may be required. • Valid driver’s license and full-time use of reliable transportation required. • Sufficient motor vehicle insurance required. • Accurate and efficient typing capability; 40+ WPM recommended. • Ability to work concurrently within multiple computer programs. • Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently for in-person and telephone communication. • Ability to record, read, and transcribe words and numbers accurately. • Proficient grammar and writing skills for high-quality reports. • Ability to work independently, interact professionally, write for long periods, meet attendance and punctuality expectations, and maintain attention to detail. • High confidentiality, ethics, and integrity required. • Professional attire required. • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long periods, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions. • Ability to work with varied individuals and personalities professionally and effectively. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment under remote supervision. • Strong organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills. • Proficient writing and communication skills. • Relocation assistance is not available.
