• Maintain and repair contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment • Provide technical support to customers on operational and maintenance matters • Travel daily and work independently at customer sites • Provide 24x7 on-call services as required • Install and replace batteries • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on contracted equipment • Interface with customers • Communicate availability status to the corporate office • Safeguard company-issued equipment, tools, instruments, proprietary information, manuals, and records • Use electronic and electrical test equipment • Coordinate and manage on-site subcontractors as necessary • Maintain the company vehicle in safe, operational condition • Ensure work meets PSS standards • Complete Field Service Reports, time sheets, expense reports, and other required paperwork accurately and on time • Provide technical support to customers upon request • Maintain technical documentation • Cross-train in other areas as needed • Mentor mid- to high-level technicians as requested
• Level II Technician: three years of field experience servicing generator systems, with some experience on 500kW+ equipment • Level III Technician: six years of field experience servicing generator systems, with extensive experience on 500kW+ equipment • Level IV Technician: ten years of field experience servicing generator systems of all sizes and applications • High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience, or equivalent field experience • Experience with preventative maintenance, paralleling switchgear, ATS repairs, controller retrofits, and loadbanking equipment • Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming, and replacement of failed engine components • Experience with Volvo and PSI engines • Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems; able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction • Expert troubleshooting skills • Expertise reading schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose electrical issues • Familiarity with Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electrical-controls environment • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, policies, and procedures • Must observe all safety standards • Computer fluency, including ERP systems, email, and Microsoft Office • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proven reasoning abilities and sound judgment • Process-oriented, with attention to detail • Teamwork-oriented and collaborative • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 20–75 pounds • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) • Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck for up to 10 consecutive hours • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, including background check, drug testing, and MVR clearance • Willingness to travel out of market/state up to 25% of the time • Willingness and ability to attend company-required training • Own and maintain a personal set of mechanical tools
