📋 Description

• Lead and perform physical design of high-voltage substations (69 kV – 500 kV) in transmission and distribution networks • Create layout drawings, general arrangements, grounding plans, conduit/cable schedules, and equipment drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bentley Substation • Partner with protection & control (P&C) and civil/structural engineering teams to ensure high-quality, constructible designs, and schedule adherence • Conduct grounding analysis, bus design, equipment configuration, and quality checks to support reliable and safe operation • Review design packages in compliance with NESC, IEEE, and client standards • Mentor and inspire early-career engineers, fostering technical growth and team collaboration — you’ll be a technical leader and a role model • Support proposal efforts and provide input on project scoping, schedule, and cost estimating for new projects

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an active PE license • 8+ years of experience in substation physical design for utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and familiarity with Bentley Substation or other substation design tools • Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment layouts, grounding systems, and bus design • Working understanding of relay coordination, control schemes, SCADA, and substation automation principles
