âą Support the Prisma Health Trauma Program and organizational requirements for trauma center verification/designation âą Identify patients for inclusion in the trauma registry according to NTDS, State Trauma Registry, and Trauma Center requirements âą Abstract clinical data from EMS records, inpatient medical records, referring hospital records, and autopsy reports âą Enter and code trauma diagnoses, procedures, and external causes/locations using AIS and ICD-10 coding âą Collect data on demographics, injury events, pre-hospital information, diagnoses, procedures, ED data, comorbidities, complications, outcomes, and financial data âą Participate in performance improvement processes and support research by gathering hospital performance and research metrics âą Identify and report complications, comorbidities, issues, and trends to the leader âą Perform data validation, logic validations, and registry data corrections using registry software âą Complete inter-rater validations and prepare data for State and Trauma TQIP submissions âą Perform other duties as assigned
âą Associate's degree in HIM or related healthcare field preferred âą One (1) year of trauma registry, coding, HIM or relevant healthcare related experience âą Requires completion of AAAM course (AIS coding) and Trauma Registry Course within one (1) year of hire âą Requires ICD-10 Coding course within one (1) year of hire âą CSTR or CAISS certification preferred âą AHIMA or AAPC coding certification preferred âą RHIT, RHIA, or CCS preferred âą Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes âą Critical thinking, organization, and time management skills âą Knowledge of State and National Trauma Standards (NTDS)
