📋 Description

• Support a liquid waste contractor, Savannah River Remediation, at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina • Perform advanced engineering evaluations using stress analysis, solid and fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles • Validate equipment design adequacy for normal operation and accident event conditions • Perform hand calculations and computer-based analyses, including finite element, pipe stress, fluid flow, and pressure vessel analyses • Evaluate structural responses to thermal-hydraulic pressure transients, vibration, live loads, wind loads, and seismic events • Determine pressure relief valve sizing requirements for fluid systems • Determine pump sizing requirements for piping networks • Perform field walk-downs of mechanical systems • Interface with vendors, fabricators, and other engineering organizations during off-site travel • Provide engineering services using SRR processes and procedures • Work as part of an Engagement Team Cadre under SRR programmatic guidance

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities • Working knowledge of AUTOPIPE, ANSYS, ABAQUS, PVElite, COMPRESS, or similar computer codes • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards including ASME VIII, API-579, ASME B31, NFPA-13, SMACNA, ASME AG-1, IBC, and AISC • Ability to perform field walk-downs of mechanical systems • MS or PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics, or BS in Mechanical Engineering and current registration as a Professional Engineer • U.S. Citizenship required • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe • Must be eligible for a Facility Access Authorization/Employment Authorization • Must be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance • May be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement • Occasional travel may be required • Ability to work at or near Savannah River Site/Aiken, South Carolina
