📋 Description

• Underwrite complex individual life insurance cases, including impaired risk, with face amounts typically above $5M and authority up to $10M • Analyze medical, financial, and non-medical information to make sound, timely underwriting decisions • Provide second signature support and guidance to junior underwriters • Partner with internal sales and distribution teams to support business objectives • Build and maintain relationships with independent agents, BGAs, and key distribution partners • Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting service and quality standards • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders • Contribute to team development through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing • Balance risk assessment, customer experience, and distribution relationships within the independent/BGA marketplace

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience • Minimum of 8 years of life insurance underwriting experience • Proven ability to underwrite large and complex cases, including impaired risks • Experience working within the independent agent / brokerage (BGA) distribution channel • Demonstrated decision-making authority on higher face amounts and complex risk profiles • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills • Excellent communication and relationship management abilities • Customer-focused mindset with commitment to service excellence • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain productivity • Proven track record of quality decisions, productivity, and career progression • Industry designations such as FALU, FLMI, CLU, or equivalent coursework preferred • Continued professional development aligned with underwriting expertise preferred
